I hit the pontoons with another coat of Sharkhide. Turned out as shiny as they were after the polishing. Saved hours of work. I didn't worry about the worn off area under the water line. You can also use the commercial pontoon cleaners, which area essentially muriatic acid diluted. Many people use a muriatic acid mix with success. WebMar 26, 2014 · After working and working, I still got black oxide in the Sharkhide finish. It is easier to polish the boat with a Dual Action Polisher at the start of the Summer, as I can do the job in maybe 90 minutes. It's a lot of less work than spending a whole day cleaning the toons with lacquer cleaner before applying Sharkhide.
