WebBolton Moor was chosen as the site of the new church and schools, and the corner-stone of the church was laid on November 22nd, 1837, by Canon Slade, who dedicated the church to Emmanuel, after his own college. The balance of the cost of £2,200 was raised by general subscription, the amount of the original endowment being £1,000.
